Why Do I need to Belong to a Church?

This is a question people often ask. A church is not a building but it is a group of people; a family. When you are hurting, when you are in need or discouraged, where can you go? You go to your family. We are to fellowship with those of “like precious faith” (2 Peter 1:1). As we do, we are blessed and we become a blessing to others. God specializes in taking the broken and discarded and making something wonderful out of them. Harvest Life Victory Church in Cold Lake, Alberta is a strong, family church with various programs that help nurture each member’s spiritual, emotional and social growth.

What We Believe

There is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.

The Bible both Old and New Testaments, to be the infallible, divinely inspired, complete and perfect Word of God, the Revelation of God to men, and the sole rule and guide for faith and morals.

Almighty God is the Creator of all things, including all life. Man was created originally in the image of God and fell from that position through sin. Salvation has been provided as a gift from God only through Jesus Christ for all people. Following repentance, man can only be born again through faith in Christ.

It is the will of God that every believer be filled with the Holy Spirit accompanied by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.

That divine healing for the physical body was provided in the work of the cross and is the privilege of every member of the Church today.

Through confessing our sins to God, every believer will be forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness.

The Church, universal, is the Body of Christ. It consists of all born-again believers under the headship of Christ. Every believer is to grow up in the Lord through study of the Word, prayer and the renewing of the mind.

Obedience to God in stewardship giving (time, talent, tithe, etc.) as a form of worship unto the Lord, knowing God will reward all who do so in faith with the right motive. It is our firm belief that Scripture teaches the tithe to be 10% of earnings; funds that belong to God, which we are to present to Him through our local Church.

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust.

We are awaiting the personal, visible, imminent return of Jesus Christ.

We believe in water baptism by total immersion and the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
